On July 1, 2009 Airports Authority of India awarded Schmid Telecom AG the contract for Supply, Installation, Training and Commissioning of Voice Communication Systems for 30 airports in India. It is a great honor for Schmid Telecom to be chosen as trusted partner for this project after having successfully installed and taken into operation the two large airports and ATC Centers of Delhi and Mumbai in an extremely short time.
To enable a smooth transition, Schmid Telecom has already extended the local VCS support team at Schmid Telecom India Pvt. Ltd in Delhi and will further invest in training and education facilities in India. Schmid Telecom is aware, that safety is a critical issue in ATC. Beside the high quality of the hardware and software of ICS 200/60 platform, well trained local staff as well as customers is a major factor to maintain the demanded availability of voice communication as requested in air traffic management.
Under the contract, in addition to the supply of 30 ICS Compact VCS, Schmid Telecom AG will also set up a repair facility and provide the requisite training to Airport Authority of India Technical Support personnel. The 2 large centers, as well as the 30 new systems are based on the same well introduced, modern voice switching technology ICS 200/60 platform. With this, not only an optimal training of the local maintenance crew but also a common stock of spare parts can be achieved.
Schmid Telecom AG is delighted at this success and is fully geared up to execute the project in its entirety within specified time period. The 30 airports are spread across India. The whole installation is scheduled stepwise beginning with taking into operation the first couple of systems within 2009 and completing the whole installation by October 15, 2010. To enable this schedule in an optimal way, three teams will be installing and commissioning the systems in parallel.
By successfully building up Schmid Telecom India Pvt. Ltd in Delhi as an own subsidiary, Schmid Telecom AG clearly states its focus on India as a key market and looks forward to further strengthen its customer near relation by providing complete solutions incorporating the state of the art technology, reliability and exemplary local support.
